Deividas Dargis

“Every artist was first an amateur.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson) So was I. My interest in arts led me to graduation in two fine art schools and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design so far. This creative path of my life made me a better and more mature person too. Years of experimenting in visual arts helped me to understand that my natural way of creative expression is in the combination of fine art and graphic design principles. So leaning new elements as a designer and a human being helps me to get better and better every day in every way.

Over my time studying at Coventry University I have had a chance to practice many elements of Graphic Design. I enjoyed working on the more digital/ animation projects and have had a lot of fun with trial and error on previous briefs. One of my favorite projects was designing the Sky Arts sting. It was the first time I had ever used Adobe flash, so after seeing my full final I was over the moon with the result. Id say the most important things I’ve learnt while being at uni is how to organize my work load to fit the time scale to make deadlines. After I graduate I intend to get into a professional design studio in London to gain experience over summer and am also planning to travel for a year before beginning my professional Graphic Design journey.

With my time at Coventry University coming to an end I feel confident in myself and my work,to enter the industry and begin my career. I strive to create innovative, relevant solutions that answer the criteria of the brief. My strengths are my ideas and concepts; I enjoy briefs that offer variation, which further my learning t keep my creative mind stimulated, my portfolio mirrors this. My next step is to apply to design studios, so I can learn about the industry and from my fellow designers in a company where I can progress. I have enjoyed my time at Coventry University and feel that I have been taught the important foundations to become a successful designer.

Serhan Curti

I am a creative who aspires to become an all-round graphic designer working in different industries, and I enjoy learning and collaborating with people from a range of disciplines (such as music, fashion, cinematography). When it comes to Graphic Design I’m really into minimal approaches and this is reflected a lot ofmy work – I love a combination of simple and clever in everything I do. Throughout the past three years I have been trying to develop not only my technical skills and work rate, but also my creative thinking.

I often approach design with simple yet effective outcomes. While studying at Coventry University, I have been able to work on my illustration, media and technical skills while still maintaining my handcraft skills. I strongly believe in using your hands as tools. I have also been able to take part in live briefs that has given me a confidence in my work and myself to be a good practitioner in graphic design. My strengths are: illustration, typography, branding and packaging. My ideal position would to be able to work in the print/sign-making area as it covers both technical and practical skills.

Web design and animation enliven my life. I plan to continue pursue my web-designing career by upgrading my App coding skills. My favorite project is the V&A promotion in 348DVA module. The reason why I love doing this project is because it systematically teaches me how to make design (poster and videos) of the same theme related to one topic. What I’ve learned from my university experience is to manage my time well and the ability to find educational sources on my own. In 5 years, I see myself programming Apps and designing websites that are extremely interactive and lively.

Adam Ahmed

Hi, I’m Adam J Ahmed and I enjoy creating advertising campaigns, creative logo designs although our course allows us to explore others sections of graphic design. After I graduate I am looking to apply for summer internships allowing me to gain professional experience before applying for full time work. My favorite project to date during my course is the open day project in second year, which gave me my first experience in interacting with a live client. My university experience has to taught me how to organize my time and work load accordingly. Hopefully I see myself in a permanent graphic design workplace in London.
