Gemma Belshaw

Fashion, publishing and branding are my favourite areas of design. I love the way everything changes quickly, and there is always something new around the corner. After graduation I hope to find inspiration from all over the world, starting with Southeast Asia and Australia, and then wherever the wind blows! My favourite project was either The Shoreditch Kitchen or The V&A briefs as there was so much freedom to make it my own and express my creativity. In five years’ time I hope to be using these skills in fashion publications.

Seeing an idea leap from sketchbook to the real world has always been something that I have loved, and due to this love, I want to pursue a career in brand development. I have thoroughly enjoyed working on assignments that allowed me to explore existing brands and elevate them to a new audience, with a personal highlight being my BBC World Service project. Truly understanding a project’s needs and then unleashing its full potential is something that I will take from university, and something that will help me towards becoming a creative director.

Mohamed Bandali

I am an aesthete and I am working towards being a renowned graphic designer. I have an creative background and have always generated work with different materials anything I find which I turn into art. As a developing artist I would catch myself observing objects and projecting meaning into them. I gradually began turning my art into a passion, and I eventually elected to study graphic design. My style is mostly illustration-based and I enjoy logo / packaging design. I am particularly inspired by Seb Lester and enjoy using my creativity to build a complete project from scratch.

I excel at and enjoy web design and typography, and I feel I can express my creativity best when I work on these projects. My plan after graduation is to gain some experience and then return to university to undertake a master’s degree. My favorite project this year was the experimental typography brief, where I was able to really break out of ‘normal’ graphics work and learn 3D software and 3D-print a whole typeface. While at university the key thing I have leant is time management it has also made me a valuable team member as well as a self-motivated individual.

I enjoy working with both photography and film. After graduation I hope to be working in the advertising industry in either print of film based mediums.

The work we undertook for the dementia home has been my favorite project as the artifacts that we produced had a lasting benefit for the residents of the home.

The most important thing I’ve learnt from university is to connect with as many people as you can.

In 5 years time I hope to be living in London and working in a creative studio. I also would love to be producing short films on the side.

Mila Spasova

My favourite area of creative practice is the field of illustration. After graduating, I intend to go back to my home country of Bulgaria and pursue my passion to the fullest. My favourite projects so far are the book covers we were assigned to design, because I enjoy reading just as much as I enjoy drawing. My three years spent in Coventry have been a very eye opening experience; I have met students and practitioners with various cultures from all over the world. I learned how different and versatile people can be. In 5 years’ time I see myself as a professional illustrator, owning a small and cozy studio, filled with books, magazines and illustrations. (Hopefully).

Nabaa Baqir

Salam! My name is Nabaa and I am from Oman. I enjoy all forms of Art & Design, but book cover design is my favorite, because it combines two things I enjoy the most: illustrating and reading. I currently freelance for prestigious publishers in the Middle East and I look towards working with other international book publishers. My favorite projects during the course were the Penguin book cover contest and the Sky Arts Sting;which I got shortlisted in both of them.
In five years, I see myself freelancing fulltime for prestigious international book publishers and teaching part- time.

University has taught me that you succeed better when you allow yourself to be confident, and it is with that confidence that I hope to travel and work for a range of design companies after first taking an internship and freelancing.I enjoy typography and illustration and my favourite university work was for the third year typography brief which provided the opportunity to explore more experimental approaches related to my key interests.

Alexander Lee

Hello I’m Alex! The areas of design that I have the most passion for are character design and design for music. After graduation I hope to find a job in a design role that has the potential for a lot of creativity. My favourite project at university was for V&A because it was closely related to music and allowed for a lot of fun content including a short film. The most important thing I’ve learned is the need for a good plan. In five years’ time I hope to be working hard, expanding and building on everything I’ve learned at university.
